STEM Session as part of British Science Week

We were visited by the Maker (Futures) Team from the University of Sheffield during British Science Week and this is what they told us about their visit:

"The Maker{Futures} team from the University of Sheffield had the pleasure of working with the Nether Edge Primary Year 4 pupils yesterday (Monday 13th March 2023) as part of British Science Week 2023. The children explored the BSW23 theme of Connections through a team challenge. It was wonderful to see how enthusiastic and engaged the children were; they demonstrated great problem-solving skills and resilience, whilst trying to save the universe from a devastating meteorite on the Planet Zorb!

As part of the challenge, the Year 4 pupils had to code a robot, build a tall tower out of paper, add a light circuit to their towers to warn other aliens of the danger and also build new cardboard infrastructure. They tackled the new challenges with full gusto and we certainly saw some lively minds and creative thought processes. It is great to know that the future of engineering is in safe hands!

We had a great day and we would like to thank the staff and pupils of Nether Edge Primary School for hosting us."
